On December 16, the EU ambassadors have approved the extension of economic sanctions against Russia due to the aggression in Ukraine, in particular, due to the annexation of Crimea. This was reported by correspondent of Radio Liberty Rikard Jozwiak, - Krym.Realii reports.

"EU ambassadors have approved the roll-over of the economic sanctions on #Russia for another 6 months. #Ukraine #Crimea", - the journalist wrote on Twitter.

After the annexation of Crimea in 2014 and the outbreak of hostilities in the Donbas, the European Union introduced sanctions related to the violation of the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine. Sectoral economic sanctions restrict the access of certain Russian banks and companies to primary and secondary capital markets in the EU, impose a ban on exports and imports in the arms trade, establish a ban on the export of dual-use goods for military use or for military final recipients in Russia and restrict Russia's access to certain technologies and services that can be used in oil production and search for its deposits.
