Ukrainians do not support settlement of situation in Donbas at the expense of Ukraine's sovereignty - research

More than 70% of Ukrainians do not support compromises in resolving situation in the Donbas at the expense of losing sovereignty and the country's territory. This is evidenced by the data of analytical study "The factor of public opinion in shaping the policy of settlement of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict: opportunities and risks", prepared by the Razumkov Centre with the support of the Representative Office of the Hanns Seidel Foundation in Ukraine.

Compromises through concessions regarding the sovereignty and territory of the state are unacceptable for the vast majority of citizens. Only 9.2% of the respondents agree that part of the sovereignty of Ukraine can be conceded for the sake of establishing peace in the Donbas, 70.6% are against.

At the same time, 13.3% consider it possible to sacrifice the occupied territories for the sake of establishing peace in the Donbas. 65% of the respondents were against.

In addition, almost half (49.9%) of citizens do not agree that for the sake of the possibility of negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin in the Normandy format, one should not respond to shelling of Ukrainian positions. 23.1% of the respondents agree with this position.
