Zelensky allows dissolution of Verkhovna Rada, if it does not decide on removal of Constitutional Court

President Volodymyr Zelensky will allow another dissolution of the Verkhovna Rada, if the deputies, and "servants of the people" above all, refuse to dismiss the judges of the Constitutional Court. The President announced this in the "Freedom of Speech" program on the ICTV channel on the evening of November 2.

"If it turns out to be so, a political collapse and a real political conflict will be, and I will see that there is no support in the Verkhovna Rada, and first of all, from the "servants of the people", because they went and, to be honest, they understand that… they are new… because, nevertheless, they became deputies thanks to me and (thanks to) the support of society, the vote of the people… but they should understand the responsibility. If we contravene, we will break the deadlock even in this way (by dissolving the parliament)", - Zelensky said.

At the same time, he stated his willingness for the current parliament to continue working, because Ukraine already has enough "unstable things" - these are Covid-19, the war in the Donbass and the economy.

As reported, the Constitutional Court had ruled certain provisions of anti-corruption legislation to be unconstitutional on October 27 upon the submission of 48 people's deputies. In particular, the Constitutional Court voted for the abolishment of Article 366-1 of the Criminal Code (doubtful declaring), unlawful enrichment, e-declaration and the powers of the NACP. In response to this decision, Zelensky submitted a bill to the Verkhovna Rada, which proposes to terminate the powers of judges of the Constitutional Court, to declare its decision on declaring "null and void" and that without legal consequences, and to cancel the relevant amendments to the law "On the prevention of corruption".
