2134 COVID-19 cases and 40 deaths recorded in Ukraine over the day - Stepanov

98 537 cases of coronavirus disease COVID-19 were recorded in Ukraine as of August 20. This was reported by Minister of Health Maksym Stepanov at a briefing in Kyiv today, - correspondent of OstroV reports.

"2134 people fell ill over the past day, of which 100 children and 160 health workers. This is an absolute anti-record. 407 people were hospitalized over the past day, 407 people were hospitalized", - the minister stated.

According to him, 40 deaths from COVID-19 were recorded over the past day.

704 patients recovered.

"In total, 98 537 people fell ill during the pandemic, including 6 702 children and 10 083 health workers. 50 441 people recovered and 2184 died", - Maksym Stepanov said.

40 779 tests on COVID-19 were carried over the past day, of which 21 698 - by PCR and 19 081 - by EIA.

According to him, the largest number of cases over the past day was recorded in the Kharkiv (242), Lviv (183), Chernivtsi (189) and Ivano-Frankivsk (168) oblasts, as well as in Kyiv (227).
