Leonid Kravchuk has stated that he was ready to make compromises at the talks in Minsk in order to achieve peace in the Donbass. He said this in an interview with RBC-Ukraine.

"We all have one mission – both for me, and for you, and for everyone who loves Ukraine and this land. The mission is one – to end the war and for peace to reign in Ukraine, so that we live peacefully: without blood, without horrors, without losses and without destruction. This is still my mission – to achieve peace in the Donbass and in Ukraine. I will do everything possible for this. We will make compromises", - the new head of the Ukrainian delegation to the Minsk Trilateral Contact Group noted.

Answering the question about the kind of compromises, Leonid Kravchuk replied that it was about managing the situation.

"Compromises – how to manage the situation. There are things that cannot be compromised – sovereignty, territorial integrity, independence and inviolability of borders. This issue is not discussed. Because these issues are predetermined by the principles of international law", - he said.

"There is the status of Donbass and there is the status of the Donbass territory management, the status of local self-government, there is the political status of Donbass. I will advocate moving from general words to concrete steps. So that it would be governance that would benefit to the people who live there, and people will feel that they are the masters of their land", - he specified.
