Ukraine needs to prepare for the second wave of COVID-19. This was stated by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky following a meeting to prevent the spread of coronavirus, - the press office of the President's Office reported.

As Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal noted, the Lviv region is in the lead in terms of the number of patients with coronavirus for the tenth day in terms of the number of patients with coronavirus. 143 new cases were recorded there over the past day, three people died.

The government prepares hospitals for the second wave of the epidemic. Now there are beds for almost 30 thousand patients, and there are few artificial lung ventilators used, they are in sufficient quantity.

"More than 70% of the beds of medical facilities in Zakarpattia that were preparing for the first wave of the epidemic are occupied by patients. We need to prepare for the second wave with such dynamics. I still hope that we can avoid the worst case scenario. But medicine should be ready for everything", - Volodymyr Zelensky noted.

The Cabinet of Ministers also noted that they were not going to resume the work of children's camps so far.

The president was also informed about the situation in the Prykarpattia region and international assistance. In particular, the first plane arrived from Italy with the help to the victims of flood - these are boats, pumps and special clothes.

As previously reported, 44 334 cases of coronavirus disease COVID-19 were recorded in Ukraine as of June 30. At the same time, 706 people fell ill over the past day, of which 63 children and 56 health workers.
