The Cabinet of Ministers has withdrawn a submission on the appointment of Mikheil Saakashvili as Vice Prime Minister for reform from the Verkhovna Rada. This was reported on Facebook by chief editor of Censor.NET Yuriy Butusov.

"The appointment of Mikheil Saakashvili in the Servant of the People faction was blocked. The high-profile story of the appointment of Saakashvili ended in a quiet double-cross - the appointment was blocked and it is unclear whether it will take place at all. After the long negotiations, the Servant of the People faction was able collect about 140-170 votes for the appointment of Saakashvili out of 248 deputies, while a little over 100 deputies expressed readiness to vote publicly in the party's chat. There are no votes, because President Volodymyr Zelensky decided not to speak publicly in support of Saakashvili", - Butusov writes.

According to him, the option of nominating Saakashvili at the mayoral election in Odessa as a candidate for Servant of the People with maximum support from the authorities, both political and financial, is currently being considered.

Saakashvili earlier reported on his Facebook that he had received an offer to become vice prime minister for reform in the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.

At the same time, Ambassador of Georgia to Ukraine Teymuraz Sharashenidze stated that possible appointment of former President of Georgia (2004-2013) and former head of the Odessa Regional State Administration Mikheil Saakashvili to the post of Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine for reform is likely to be perceived in Tbilisi as unfriendly and unacceptable step on the part of a strategic partner.
