The prosecutor's office of Donetsk region handed over the case to the court on the gang, that robbed in the ATO area and killed an employee of the SSU
The Prosecutor's Office of Donetsk region has completed the investigation on the brutal murder of an employee of the SSU in Volnovakha. This is stated by the press service of the Ministry.
It notes that the second investigation department of the Investigation Division of the Prosecutor's Office of Donetsk region has completed the investigation and submitted to court an indictment against seven members of an armed gang, that murdered the employee of the SSU Victor Mandzik on March 21st, 2015.
Thus, the prosecutor's investigators found that a resident of Kiev, who is an active lawyer, being on the territory of the antiterrorist operation in Donetsk and Luhansk regions, took advantage of the situation, which made it possible to acquire, store and use weapons, created a gang in October 2014.
It consisted of residents of Dnipropetrovsk and region who had the experience of fighting and weapon handling. The offender offered them to unite in an armed gang, which should be based in the ATO area and disguised as security company employees.
Later, in the period from November 2014 to March 2015, members of the gang committed a series of armed assaults on shops in Donetsk region and individuals, as well as stole vehicles.
Total criminal activities of the gang amounted to the damage of more than 1500000 UAH. Large quantities of weapons and explosives, as well as household appliances, stolen from shops, were found and seized in the gang members’ place of residence.
It was also found that the organizer of the gang, nickname "Advocat (lawyer)", when being drunk together with two of his comrades in Volnovakha, stopped three freight trucks under the pretext of preventing smuggling of goods and asked the drivers to show documents on March 21th, 2015.
When the SSU employee came to the incident site, the offenders seized his identity card and service weapon - AK74 assault rifle.
After that, "Advocat" shot two times with the assault rifle - the first one in the air and the second at the head of the SSU officer. After committing the murder, the accused left the scene. The suspect was detained one week later in Uzhgorod. Subsequently 6 members of his gang were arrested.
