March indexation of pensions is postponed to September. This conclusion can be drawn from the statement of Minister of Social Policy Yulia Sokolovska, presented by the ministry's press service.

According to her, the increase in pensions will occur, including due to indexation. "This is a planned and budgeted recalculation. Our government has planned this for September. On average, due to indexation, the size of the pension will increase by $9/month in 2020", - the minister promised.

Earlier, the Ministry of Social Policy announced the second annual pension indexation since March 1, 2020. The first indexation was carried out in 2019, and according to the statement of the then Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman, it will be not necessary to take separate decisions of the government or the parliament for the recalculation of pensions in the future - the payments should be updated automatically from March 1 of each year.

The amount of 2020 increase was calculated according to the following formula: 50% of the inflation rate in 2019 (4.2% - that is, half will be about 2.1%) + 50% of the average wage growth over the past year (almost 19% - that is, half will be about 8.5%). According to the Ministry of Social Policy, from March 1, on average, pensions should increase by 11%. Meanwhile, there is no logic for the indexation of pensions following the results of 2019 at the end of 2020 (September is the 9th month).

As previously reported, the salary of Minister of Social Policy Yulia Sokolovskaya for December amounted to $8750.
