Kristina Kvien has been appointed as the interim Chargé d'Affaires at the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine. This is reported by Radio Liberty with reference to the U.S. Embassy.

"I have been in Ukraine for about six months as deputy chief of the U.S. mission to Ukraine, I was pleased to meet people in Ukraine during my stay in Kyov and traveling to such cities as Lviv and Dnipro. I am delighted to meet new challenges and greater responsibility for the position of team leader of the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine. We work closely with Ukrainian partners to advance common goals", - Kvien said.

She stressed that the U.S. policy of strong support for Ukraine remains steady.

The message recalls that previous U.S. Chargé d'Affaires William Taylor said good-bye to Ukraine on December 31, 2019. He has been at the head of the U.S. mission since June 2019.

The post of the U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine has remained vacant since May, when Washington had recalled Marie Jovanovic from this post.
