Surkov’s assistant visits "congress" of mercenaries who fought in Donbass - separatist media

Assistant to the President of Russia Vladislav Surkov has personally visited the so-called V Congress of the Union of Donbass Volunteers Interregional non-governmental organization. This is reported by separatist media.

It is noted that the Zhukov Hall at the Victory Museum in Moscow was allocated for holding a meeting of Russian militants who took an active part in the occupation of the Ukrainian Donbass.

The Russian mercenaries and saboteurs, - the report says, - discussed the role of volunteerism in protecting the civilian population of Donbass.

More than 500 "delegates", who took part in the occupation of the Ukrainian Donbass, arrived at the congress. "Also, the congress of the UDV was visited by assistant to the president of Russia Vladislav Surkov", - separatist media write.

As previously reported, one of the main "volunteers" is Russian terrorist Igor Girkin (Strelkov). He entered Ukrainian Sloviansk the of the Donetsk oblast with a detachment of Russian saboteurs from the territory of Russia on April 12, 2014. His sabotage-reconnaissence group captured the city police departments and the SBU, and Girkin declared himself "acting commander of the DNR militia". Later, he confessed that a bloody war in Ukraine would not have begun without his detachment. "I still pressed the trigger of the war. If our detachment had not crossed the border, everything eventually would have ended, like in Kharkiv or Odessa. There would have been several dozen killed, burned and arrested.
