MP from the Servant of the People party and head of the Verkhovna Rada Foreign Policy Committee Bohdan Yaremenko rules out the possibility of holding an all-Ukrainian referendum about the law "on the special status of Donbass". He stated this on the air of Right to Power on 1+1 channel.

"There is no need in the law on referendum, but at the same time, the existing procedures for considering bills in the parliament committees that are open to anyone make it possible to keep all citizens of Ukraine well aware of what is happening", - he said.

This statement is at variance with election promises of the president. In his election program, Volodymyr Zelensky promised to put the main issues to the referendum and other forms of direct democracy.

"My first bill will be "On popular rule". Together we will consolidate the mechanism by which only the people of Ukraine will formulate the main tasks for power through referenda and other forms of direct democracy. This should happen with the maximum use of the latest technologies in modern Ukraine", - the election program of presidential candidate Volodymyr Zelensky said.

Later, head of the Presidential Office Andriy Bohdan stated that questions about concluding peace agreements with Russia would be submitted to a popular referendum.

"Volodymyr Zelensky himself declared in his speeches that we are considering the issues of drawing up some agreements and putting them to a referendum. Still, not only politicians should speak, but also the people. We are considering putting the issue of reaching peace agreements with Russia to a national referendum so that not only the deputies vote and the president makes a decision, but the people make a decision, and society gives an assessment", - he stated.
