Pushilin wants to force Ukraine to sign off on Steinmeier formula. Chesnakov approves

Leader of the "DNR" Denis Pushilin has stated that representatives of the occupied part of Donetsk oblast would insist on the signing of Steinmeier formula by the Ukrainian party at the talks of the Contact Group in Minsk, - separatist media report.

"Already at the next meeting in Minsk, scheduled for October 1, we will again demand from Ukraine to endorse the text agreed upon by the Normandy format advisers. This must be done so that Kyiv cannot evade the obligation to grant Donbass a special status and, finally, leave our people alone and let them, all of us, live as we want – independently and peacefully", - Pushilin said.

The statement by the "DNR" leader was immediately supported by the Russian political technologist Alexey Chesnakov, member of the team of Assistant to the President of Russia Vladislav Surkov.

"The demand" of the "DNR" head D.Pushilin to force L.Kuchma to sign Steinmeier formula is absolutely fair… It is time for Kuchma to understand and reconcile – he have to sign it. Because Pushilin is right: no special status - no peace. This is the essence of the Minsk agreements", - he wrote in his Telegram channel.

As reported, the Minsk agreements, first of all, provide for the restoration of the territorial integrity of Ukraine by providing the temporarily occupied territories of Donbass with the status of "areas with a special order of local self-government". As for the local elections, according to the Minsk agreements, they should be held according to Ukrainian legislation. They do not speak of any "independence" of the mythical "people of Donbass".
