Detectives of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU), together with representatives of the Special Investigations Directorates of the GPOU and SBU, detained deputy minister for temporarily occupied territories and internally displaced persons of Ukraine Yuriy Hrymchak and his assistant on suspicion of fraud. This is reported by UNN with reference to the press service of the NABU.

"On August 14, the NABU detectives, together with representatives of the Special Investigations Directorates of the Prosecutor General's Office (PGO) and SBU, exposed and detained the deputy minister for temporarily occupied territories and internally displaced persons of Ukraine and his assistant on suspicion of committing crime under Part 4 of Article 190 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine under the procedural guidance of prosecutors of the procedural management department for criminal proceedings on crimes of a special category of the PGOU", - the report said.

It is noted that the indicated persons demanded US$1.1 million from a representative of a legal entity allegedly for exercising influence on decision-making by persons authorized to perform state functions.

"They were caught red-handed amid receiving part of the sum in the amount of $480 thousand", - the NABU press service stated.

The criminal proceedings are being investigated by a joint investigation team consisting of representatives of the NABU, SBU and Central Investigation Department of the GPOU.

As UNN reported, Hrymchak's wife, Yulia Hrymchak, earlier said that prosecutors were searching the deputy minister's apartment.
