President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has proposed to conduct the lustration of all the top officials and deputies who worked during the presidency of Petro Poroshenko. He stated this in his video message posted on Facebook.
He stressed that "we are being accused that we want to abolish lustration", but according to him, "we propose to tighten the lustration". In his opinion, top leaders of the country and people's deputies have demonstrated a complete inability to perform their state functions over five years, so they should be banned forever from being in power.
He voiced the list of posts that are proposed for the new lustration.
"I propose to add to the list of posts falling under lustration: the president of Ukraine, all people's deputies of Ukraine, the chairman of the Verkhovna Rada, members of the government, the prosecutor general, the head of the SBU, the heads of the Antimonopoly Committee and State Property Fund, the heads of the State Fiscal Service and Customs, the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, the leadership of defense enterprises that held positions from February 23, 2014 to May 19, 2019", - the president noted.
As previously reported, the Constitutional Court is considering the constitutionality of the law on lustration of officials who worked for the regime of Viktor Yanukovych.
