Son of businessman and politician Yevhen Shcherban, who was shot dead at the Donetsk Airport, Ruslan Shcherban is running as self-nominated candidate at the early elections to the Verkhovna Rada, which will be held on July 21. This is evidenced by data of the Central Election Commission's website.

Ruslan Shcherban was born on January 13, 1977 in the city of Donetsk, a citizen of Ukraine, lives on the territory of Ukraine during the last five years. He is Chairman of the Supervisory Board of PAO AKB Capital, non-party, has no criminal record.

Ukrainian politician and businessman Yevhen Shcherban was shot dead at the Donetsk airport on November 3, 1996, together with his wife Nadia Nikitina. He left three sons - the eldest Yevhen, Ruslan (who was present at the execution) and Yevhen - the son of Nikitina.

In 2012, Ruslan Scherban accused BYuT leader Yulia Tymoshenko and Pavlo Lazarenko of contract killing of his father.

Soon at that time, people's deputy Hennadiy Moskal stated that Ruslan Shcherban was forced to accuse former Prime Minister Tymoshenko of murdering his father in exchange for avoiding responsibility for the murder of a 26-year-old Donetsk resident Drozdov, committed by Shcherban and his comrade during a hunt near the village of Sydorove of the Sloviansk district. "The blame for the murder is planned to be laid on the driver of Shcherban-junior, Novikov, who has already agreed to this (information from unofficial sources) for a large reward", - Moskal told at that time.

Later, the prosecutor's office of the Donetsk oblast confirmed the fact of the death of citizen Drozdov on the hunt in the lands of Mayak forestry. Allegedly, the murder was due to negligence, the identity of the criminal was established, and the investigators did not establish the fact of the involvement of Ruslan Shcherban.

Capital Bank was established in 1991. In November 2014, the head office was moved from Donetsk to Kyiv. In June 2019, the Supreme Court revoked the decision of the National Bank of Ukraine on its liquidation.
