Rada simplifies acquisition of citizenship by foreign volunteers

The Verkhovna Rada has passed the bill No. 3433 "Regarding the legal status of foreigners and stateless persons, who participated in the protection of the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine" in the second reading authored by people's deputy Andriy Biletsky, - correspondent of OstroV reports.

230 deputies voted for this decision.

The law amends the Law "On Citizenship of Ukraine" on securing the rule on the simplified procedure for admitting foreigners and stateless persons to citizenship of Ukraine, who provided practical assistance in protecting the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine.

"The purpose of this bill is to resolve the issue of recognition of foreigners and stateless persons, who participated in the protection of the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine, who are legally present in the territory of Ukraine, simplified procedure for granting such persons citizenship or issuing such persons a residence permit in Ukraine at the time of participation in the defense of the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine", - the explanatory note to the draft law said.
