Occupied Donbass fails to hold even football "championship" of non-existent states of Europe

National football teams from the occupied Donbass have refused to participate in the so-called "European Championship" among the unrecognized states in Stepanakert (Nagorno-Karabakh). This is reported by separatist media.

Earlier, the participation of the national teams of the "DNR" and "LNR" was announced, and even lots were casted, according to which football players of the occupied part of Luhansk oblast had to play with the team of the non-existent "state" of Lapland and unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh.

National team of the "DNR" supposed to play with virtual "states" called Sardinia and Padania.

As follows from the list of participants, the participation of not even unrecognized states, but phantom "state entities", which exist only in the fantasies of individual separatist politicians, was stated by and large.

For example, the national team of Padania is unofficial football team, supported by the Italian "League of the North" and representing no country. The national team of Lapland is unofficial Saami football team, living in northern Norway, Sweden, Finland and Russia. The team of the Székely Land consists of ethnic Hungarians living in Romania. The Székely Land presents itself as the unrecognized national-territorial autonomy of the Székelys (Hungarians of Romania).

It was initially planned that 12 such teams would take part in the tournament, but for various reasons, the national teams of the "DNR", "LNR", Nice and Sardinia virtual formations did not play in the championship.

The "European Championships" among unrecognized states are held under the auspices of ConIFA (Confederation of Independent Football Associations) and have no official status.
