President Volodymyr Zelensky selectively hears the "voice of the people" when discussing the electoral system. This was written by director of the Democratic Initiatives Foundation, sociologist Iryna Bekeshkina on her Facebook.

"If the "people's servant" seems to listen to the voice of the people so much, then, obviously, an election system with open lists should be adopted", - she wrote.

The sociologist recalled that according to the results of opinion poll of the Democratic Initiatives and KIIS, conducted in March 2019, the proportional system, when all deputies are elected on party lists, was supported by only 9.8% of the respondents.

The proportional system with open lists, when voters can vote not only for the party, but also for individual candidates from the list, which determines the order of their passage to the Verkhovna Rada, was supported by 37.3% of the respondents.

"It seems that everything is clear with the "voice of the people". But unfortunately, it is heard selectively…", - Iryna Bekeshkina stated.

As previously reported, the deputies assure that President Volodymyr Zelensky proposes the Rada to adopt changes to the current election law, where the election system will be enshrined exclusively on closed party lists.
