The Commission of the European Union will study the possibility of ban on entry into the EU for citizens of the occupied territories of Donbass, who have Russian passports. This was reported on Twitter by the Brussels correspondent of Radio Liberty Rikard Jozwiak, - RBC-Ukraine writes.

"Eu ambassadors discussed the issue of Russia handing out passports in east Ukraine. 7 member states want sanctions. They have instructed the commission to look into if ppl with these passports can be stopped from entering the EU", - he wrote.

As previously reported, on April 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree simplifying the procedure for granting Russian citizenship to CADLO residents. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin stated that in order to stop issuing Russian passports in Donbass, it is necessary to impose large-scale sanctions on Russia in the form of systemic response.

High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini stated that in the coming weeks, the European Union would continue to explore the possibility of imposing sanctions on Russia because of the issuance of passports to residents of the occupied Donbass under the simplified procedure.
