Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin has canceled his participation in the ministerial meeting of the Council of Europe this week. This is reported by European Pravda.

Klimkin refused to go to Helsinki because of the decision of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, which supported the draft ministerial decision, which opens the way for Russia to return to the Council of Europe on an emergency procedure.

The decision must be finally approved at the meeting in the Finnish capital on May 17, without changes and without discussion.

"The minister has already canceled his visit to Helsinki, and for the first time in many years, Ukraine will not be represented at the level of minister", - permanent representative of Ukraine to the Council of Europe Dmytro Kuleba stated.

The leading lobbysts for Russia's return to the Council of Europe are representatives of Germany, France and the Netherlands.
