Ukraine is 35th in LGBT rights protection ranking in Europe

Ukraine was ranked 35 out of 49 in the annual Rainbow Europe ranking on the situation with the protection of LGBT rights on the continent. This is evidenced by the data of rating of the ILGA-Europe human rights group, - Ukrayinska Pravda reports.

It is noted that countries in the ranking can range from 0% (gross violations of human rights and discrimination) to 100% (respect for human rights, completely equal rights for minorities in society).

Ukraine gained 21.52%, Italy gained 0.01% more.

Malta topped the rating with a score of 90.35%, Belgium is in the second place (73.08%), Luxembourg (70.40%), Finland (69.27%) and Denmark (67.86%) are in the top five.

The rating is closed by Russia (10.20%), Armenia (6.4%), Turkey (5.16%) and Azerbaijan (3.33%).

A number of indicators are being studied for the ranking in each country, in particular, equality and non-discrimination, legal recognition of gender change, combating hate crimes, freedom of expression.
