Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Andriy Parubiy has signed the law No. 5670-d "On ensuring the functioning of the Ukrainian language as a state language", - correspondent of OstroV reports.

"I urgently sign the law on the functioning of the Ukrainian language as a state language", - Parubiy stated and signed the document right in the session hall.

"The president will sign it in the coming hours or days", - he said.

As reported earlier, on April 25, the Verkhovna Rada adopted the law on functioning of the Ukrainian language as a state language in almost all areas of public life. The law was supported by 278 people's deputies. The Opposition Bloc and Revival factions were strongly against the adoption of the law, which blocked the signing of the bill after the voting.
