The main reason for the return of IDPs to the occupied territory is presence of real estate there and absence of the need to pay for rental housing. This is said in the report of the National Monitoring System on the socio-economic characteristics of internally displaced persons (IDPs), their households, as well as on the challenges they face, - Interfax-Ukraine writes.
It turned out during a telephone survey that 19% of the interviewed IDPs returned to the territory beyond the control of Ukraine. In most cases, these are IDP households consisting of one or two people aged 31-60+ years, without children and without persons with disabilities in the household.
According to the report, the main reason for return to the occupied territory is presence of private property there, therefore there is no need to pay for rental housing (85%), family reasons (26%), insufficient employment opportunities (4%), inability to integrate into the local community (3%), limited access to social services (2%), other (4%). 3% did not answer the question.
Among those immigrants who returned there, 25% were employed, 2% were unemployed, but actively looking for work, 65% were retired, 5% were doing housework, caring for children, 2% were persons with disabilities and 1% were unemployed and not looking for work.
Among other things, 41% of IDPs who returned to the occupied territory stated that they have enough money for food, clothes and basic needs, 36% have enough money only for food, 13% cut corners even on food, 9% have enough money for basic and additional needs, they have savings, and 1% did not answer the question.
