Leader of the "LNR" Leonid Pasechnik has stated that the Ukrainian authorities organized the persecution of Ukrainian politicians "advocating peace in the Donbass". This is said in his statement for separatist media journalists.

"At present, an indiscriminate campaign has been unleashed against the persecution of Ukrainian politicians in favor of establishing peace in the Donbass. The traditional intimidation with nationalists, threats and repression, persecution by fully controlled judges and special services is being used", - Pasechnik stated.

It is revealing that his concern for the fate of individual Ukrainian politicians coincided with the statement of his "colleague" – leader of the "DNR" Denis Pushilin, who practically told the local journalists a few hours earlier that Kyiv "repress opposition politicians".

Probably, speaking of "repressed and harassed oppositionists", both ringleaders meant one of the leaders of the Opposition Platform – For Life Viktor Medvedchuk.

As previously reported, he stated the need to create the so-called "Donbass autonomous region" with its own government and parliament. In response to these statements, the Prosecutor General's Office opened criminal proceedings on possible treason and separatism of Viktor Medvedchuk. The PGOU noted that the suspicion of treason and separatism would be handed to him after all the necessary investigative actions are carried out. In response, Viktor Medvedchuk said on the air of one of the propaganda shows on Russian television that he was not going to abandon his plan for the broad autonomy of Donbass.
