14 people died at Donbass checkpoints from end of last year - OSCE SMM

Fourteen people died while crossing the contact line in Donbass from the end of December 2018. This is stated in the report of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission.

"The SMM confirmed the death of two elderly people who tried to cross the line of contact. Thus, the total number of such cases since the end of December 2018 has reached 14", - the report said.

The OSCE SMM continues to record long lines of civilians at the entry and exit checkpoints.

"According to information received from the State Border Service of Ukraine, in 2018, civilians daily crossed the contact line about 37 000 times, for a total of more than 13 million crossings per year", - the observers note.
