CEC registers Poroshenko as candidate for presidential election

The Central Election Commission has registered current head of state Petro Poroshenko as candidate in the 2019 presidential election. The commission adopted such a decision during today's meeting, - RBC-Ukraine reports.

The decision was taken unanimously. Thus, the CEC registered 38 candidates as of February 7.

As previously reported, on February 3, current President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko submitted documents to the Central Election Commission for registration as candidate in the 2019 presidential election.

Poroshenko made a statement on January 29 that he will participate in the Ukrainian presidential election.

On February 6, the Central Election Commission registered three more candidates for the presidency of Ukraine: Andriy Novak (the Patriot party), Vasyl Zhuravliov (the Justice party) and independent candidate Yuriy Tymoshenko.
