More than 30 thousand crimes have been recorded by the police of Donetsk region since the beginning of the year

More than 30 thousand crimes, including those committed on the occupied territory, have been recorded by the police of Donetsk region since the beginning of the year - said the Department of Communications of GD NP in the region.

"In the context of the terrorist threat the police work hard on the priority areas. Most of all the forces and resources are involved in the fight against terrorism, illegal arms trafficking, solving murders, cessation of drug trafficking"- said the statement.

For example, law enforcement officers  have solved about 1500 out of more than 1,900 crimes in the sphere of drug trafficking. Only last week they seized methadone amounting to 1.5 million hryvnia in Artemovsk and Mariupol. 

The work is carried out to identify and detain the terrorists and their accomplices. More than 350 participants of illegal armed formations have been brought to trial, they are suspected of committing crimes under Art. 258 and Art. 260 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Over one thousand militants have been identified. In 2015 more than 800 people were put on the wanted list. 

So, this week a specialized investigative team of the Dzerzhinsk police detained a 26-year-old local resident and proved his participation in the armed gangs. It is known that in 2014 the previously convicted man joined the "DPR" and conducted access control, filtering citizens at the Krest checkpoint, which was previously located near Nelepovka village

"Law enforcement agencies are actively fighting against bribery: 63 persons are suspected of committing a crime out of 88 facts of extortion and receiving illegal benefits. Investigative and operational action are being carried out in the other cases", - says the report. 

In addition, the criminal police of the Donetsk region have solved 50 out of 65 facts of causing grievous bodily harm resulting in death. 

Since the beginning of the year more than 30 thousand crimes have been recorded, including those committed on the temporarily occupied territory.
