Before the voting in the Verkhovna Rada for the introduction of martial law in Ukraine for 30 days, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko stressed that martial law would be used only in case of Russian ground military aggression on the territory of Ukraine. This is reported by the President's press service.

"And now, when we need to unite efforts, when we need to make a resolute decision on the declaration of martial law, which - I want to emphasize separately - will be imposed only in the event of ground Russian military aggression. If, God send, we manage to avoid this scenario jointly, I emphasize as President and Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the AFU - there will be no restriction of rights, there will be no restriction of freedoms", - the Head of state said during a speech in the Verkhovna Rada.

"(By the Decree - ed.) I asked to give the right to the President as soon as the Russian soldier crosses the border - I will not waste a second to protect the Ukrainian land", - Poroshenko added.

The Head of State also noted that martial law will be introduced for 30 days.

As reported, the Verkhovna Rada imposed martial law in 10 oblasts of the country for 30 days on the evening of November 26.
