Only 8% of respondents support separation of occupied Donbass from Ukraine - survey

Support for a peaceful solution to the conflict in Donbass among Ukrainians has slightly increased over the past month. This is evidenced by the results of a joint survey of the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology, Razumkov Centre and Rating Sociological Group.

According to the results, 31% of the Ukrainians surveyed are in favor of stopping armed hostilities in the Donbass and recognizing these territories as temporarily occupied, 27% are in favor of giving these territories federal status as part of Ukraine.

However, only 8% support the separation of these territories from Ukraine, and every sixth (17%) are undecided on this issue.

On the other hand - 17% believe that it is necessary to continue military operations until the full restoration of Ukrainian government in the occupied territories - the level of support for the alternative has decreased from 21 to 17%.

Sample: 10 000 respondents in all regions of Ukraine (excluding the population of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and occupied territories of Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts). The sample is representative for the population of Ukraine over 18 years old by such indicators as gender, age, type of settlement and region of residence. Statistical discrepancy: not more than 1.0%. Time frame: October 19 - November 2, 2018.
