The world's largest chain of Walmart stores will stop selling clothes with Soviet symbols at the request of Lithuania. This is reported by European Pravda with reference to Vakarų Ekspresas.

"Rolandas Krišiūnas, Lithuanian ambassador to the United States, has recently received a written response from Walmart management with a promise to stop trading goods with Soviet symbols in the near future", - the report said.

The appeal of the Lithuanian ambassador to the management of trading network said that Walmart hardly intended to offend the Baltic states with Soviet symbols, but "clothes with symbols of mass murders" should be immediately withdrawn from the market. Latvia, Estonia and EU joined the demand of Lithuania.

The Soviet Union occupied Lithuania in 1940-1941 and 1944-1990. During the Soviet occupation, more than a quarter of a million Lithuanians were deported to the camps and exiles. 21 thousand partisans and their supporters perished in the armed resistance to the occupation.
