The number of shelling by militants in the Donbass has decreased by half. This was stated at a press conference in Sievierodonetsk of the Luhansk oblast on Thursday by commander of the Joint Forces Serhiy Nayev, - the JFO reports on Facebook.

According to Nayev, one of the major priorities is preservation of life and health of the personnel and civilians.

"Thanks to the joint efforts of the Joint Forces command, in the first three months of the operation, Ukrainian party of the Joint Center for Control and Coordination was able to reduce the number and intensity of enemy shelling, in particular, with the use of heavy weapons, almost by half. In May, Russian-occupation troops carried out 1 thousand 532 shelling of our positions, and in July, this figure dropped to 741. Accordingly, the number of enemy shelling of civilian settlements on the territory of Donbass decreased - from 22 in May to 3 in July", - general-lieutenant Serhiy Nayev said.

He also noted that in August of this year, in callous disregard of the terms of the truce, Russian-occupation troops sharply increased shelling of the Joint Forces' positions again, including with the use of heavy weapons prohibited by the Minsk agreements.
