In Ukraine more than 1000 people died on the roads since the beginning of the year - Prosecutor General's Office

Since early 2018, 1041 people died as a result of traffic violations in Ukraine. This was reported by the speaker of the Prosecutor General's Office Andriy Lysenko on his Facebook page.

"And again, death on the roads! Almost every day! Kyiv, Odesa, Kharkiv, Cherkasy, Zhytomyr, Lviv... Innocent adults and children are being killed. In the first half of 2018, 7072 violations of traffic rules were recorded, while 1041 people died", - he wrote.

According to him, pre-trial investigations have already been carried out for 1031 criminal proceedings and sent to the court with indictments.

"Representatives of the prosecutor's office provide and monitor the execution of list of actions envisaged by law by the investigative authorities for all cases with fatalities or injuries", - the spokesman for the Prosecutor General's Office said.

Lysenko also recalled that in 2017, there were 22486 violations of traffic rules, 2984 of which had a fatal outcome. 1324 people were found guilty by courts.
