Vladislav Surkov, whom Russian President Vladimir Putin reassigned as his assistant yesterday, will continue to oversee the occupied part of Donbass. This was reported to journalists by the press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov, - UNIAN reports.

In particular, when answering the question whether Surkov will continue to deal with the "settlement" of the situation in the Donbass within the Kremlin scenario, Peskov said: "Yes".

As previously reported, on June 13, Russian President Vladimir Putin reassigned Vladislav Surkov as his aide.

V. Surkov is the curator of the terrorist "republics" of Donbass. He is responsible for the negotiations with the US Department of State's Special Representative for Ukraine Kurt Volker. On March 17, 2014, Surkov was sanctioned by the US government, which provides for a ban on entry into the United States, as well as the seizure of assets and property located in the territory of the United States. The American side considers the presidential aide as one of the top senior officials of the Russian administration responsible for violating the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine. Similar measures have been taken by the Government of Canada. After the next inauguration of Russian President Vladimir Putin, rumors of Surkov’s resignation and the replacement of the Kremlin curator of the occupied territories were spread.
