Malaysian Boeing was shot down over the Donbass in 2014 by the Buk anti-aircraft missile system from the 53rd Anti-Aircraft Rocket Brigade of the Russian Armed Forces, based in the Russian city of Kursk. This was announced at a press conference of the International Joint Investigation Team to investigate the crash of flight MN17, - Ukrayinska Pravda writes.

Wilbert Paulissen, head of the crime squad of the Netherlands' national police, stated the investigation team concluded that it is this Buk anti-aircraft missile system that shot down the Malaysian Boeing on the basis of distinguishing features.

In particular, on the tractive vehicle carrying military equipment, and on the anti-aircraft missile system itself, it was partially possible to distinguish a side number, as well as a mark that indicates the center of gravity applied when carrying heavy loads. Also, with the help of video footage, it was possible to establish the similarity between the information provided by the witnesses. "We came to the conclusion that Buk belonged to the 53rd Anti-Aircraft Rocket Brigade of the Russian Armed Forces, which is based in the Russian city of Kursk", – he said.

Head of the Federal Police of Australia Jennifer Hurst said that the plane was shot down by a 9M38 rocket. Part of the rocket, where the rocket engine was placed, was found on the territory of Ukraine in September 2016. "A number that indicates the manufacturer's code was found on the shell – the company is located in the Moscow oblast, the year of manufacture – 1986, the serial number of the rocket is also indicated", – she said.

Boeing 777 of Malaysia Airlines, carrying out the flightMN-17 Amsterdam (Netherlands) - Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), crashed in the Donetsk oblast on July 17, 2014. All 298 people on board were killed. The international team to investigate the crash of Boeing flight MN17 concluded that the plane was shot down by a Buk missile, delivered from the territory of Russia. In another report, Bellingcat published a photo of Buk 332, taken in the vehicle park of the 53rd brigade in the village of Marshala Zhukova near Kursk, probably, in the spring of 2013.
