2 269 Ukrainian soldiers died while defending Ukraine from the Russian aggression. President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko stated was during the "lessons of courage" with Kiev lyceum students and cadets, - reports 112. ua.

"2 269 Ukrainian soldiers died while defending Ukraine from the Russian aggression. It is becoming a tradition to commemorate the ATO soldiers on the Kruty Heroes Day. Both died for the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of our state," - said Poroshenko.

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, 2673 soldiers have dies since the beginning of the ATO, 8519 people have been injured, 5913 of them were injured not during combat actions. The State Border Service noted that 67 of border guards died, 406 injured and six are missing as of the end of December. As of the end of last year, 11 SSU officer dies in the ATO, more than 100 people were injured.
