Hug leaves for Donbass due to serious deterioration in the security situation

Principal Deputy Chief Monitor of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine Alexander Hug will make an unplanned trip to Donbas on Thursday, May 17, following a serious deterioration in the security situation in the last 24 hours, the OSCE's press office has reported.

The report notes that Hug will assess the security situation along the contact line and its impact on civilians, and discuss with interlocutors measures to reduce tension.

As previously reported, over the past day and night on May 17, illegal armed formations opened fire in the Donbass 66 times, including shelling from "Grad". As a result, two Ukrainian soldiers were killed and four others were injured.
