Kyiv's Shevchenkivsky District Court has extended the measure of restraint in the form of detention for Ukrainian MP Nadiia Savchenko until July 13. This was announced at the court session by Judge Pavlo Slobodianyuk.

According to LIGA.net, at a session on Tuesday the court granted a respective petition from Ukraine's Chief Military Prosecutor's Office.

The prosecutor of the Main Military Prosecutor's Office Oleksandr Bannik petitioned for the extension of Savchenko's arrest, since the investigation has not been completed.

In his opinion, if they changed the measure of restraint, Savchenko may pressure witnesses, influence the investigation or even hide.

Savchenko refused to testify. The prosecutor said that her "suspicion is confirmed by the testimony of other witnesses".

He added that it is necessary to conduct several more examinations, interrogate 80 people in different regions of Ukraine and in the Donbass.

Savchenko’s state lawyer Yulia Tkach protested against the petition of the prosecutor.

It was reported that on March 22, the Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada granted the prosecutor general's recommendation and gave its consent to prosecute, detain, and arrest Savchenko. Kyiv's Shevchenkivsky District Court ruled on March 23 to place Savchenko under arrest pending trial for two months. She faces a prison sentence up to life imprisonment. On May 12, law enforcers simulated the shelling of the Verkhovna Rada with the weapons that, according to investigators, belong to MP Savchenko.
