Prosecutor, who in 2014 "served" at the "DNR" checkpoint, was arrested

The prosecutor, who previously collaborated with the "DNR" militants, was arrested. The corresponding decision was made by the Zhovtnevy District Court in Mariupol. This is stated in the press service of the Prosecutor's Office of the Donetsk oblast.

According to the collected evidence, the man worked in the justice bodies in 2014, and when his village (in Bakhmut district) was seized by the militants, he did not leave, but instead carried out military service at the checkpoints of the "DNR".

"Thanks to the well-coordinated work of the Donetsk oblast prosecutor's office, the military prosecutor's office of the ATO, the General Inspectorate and the police of the Donetsk oblast, it was established that in 2014 the then civil servant and now the prosecutor was part of the pseudo-state formation the "DNR”. He was on duty at one of the roadblocks of the "DNR", - the report said. At the same time, trying to hide his participation in bandit formations, the man went through a competitive selection and took the post of district prosecutor.

Criminal proceedings are open under Part 2 of Art.260 "Creation of illegal armed formations or participation in their activities" of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. However, during the pre-trial investigation, the versions his involvement in committing other crimes, including espionage, are being worked out.

The suspect will be held in the remand center for the next month.
