Ukraine's parliament, the Verkhovna Rada, has adopted a resolution in support of the appeal by President Petro Poroshenko to Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew to recognize the independence of Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC), OstroV’s correspondent reports.
A total of 268 MPs voted for draft resolution.
Petro Poroshenko was present in the parliament’s hall during the consideration of the draft decision.
"Our united Ukrainian Orthodox Church can become the largest in the entire Orthodox world", - the president said.
