The Court of Appeal of the Luhansk oblast left unchanged the decision of Novoaidarsky District Court of January 18, according to which Russian saboteur Viktor Ageyev was sentenced to 10 years in prison. The corresponding decision was made after consideration of the appeal on April 5, attorney Viktor Chevguz said, Ukrinform reports.

"The Court of Appeal upheld the verdict of the first instance", - he told.

Chevguz added that he would appeal this decision of the Court of Appeal of the Luhansk oblast in cassation.

The lawyer also noted that Ageyev was included in the list for an exchange, which consists of 23 people.

Ageev was accused of participating in hostilities on the side of the terrorist organization "LNR", as well as in the illegal storage and carrying of firearms and ammunition.

The prosecutor requested to sentence Ageyev to 12 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property. The court partially granted the request of the prosecutor's office, choosing a penalty of 10 years in prison.

As previously reported, in June 2017, the AFU detained four militant saboteurs, one of whom was Viktor Ageyev, the resident of the Altai Krai of Russia, the soldier of the Russian Federation. Russia insisted that Ageyev was dismissed to the reserve in May 2017 and did not undergo volunteer military service.
