Deputies of Lviv Regional Council and Ternopil City Council appealed to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine with a statement on inexpediency of amendments to Constitution of Ukraine on the special status of the occupied regions of Donetsk and Luhansk regions. Corresponding appeals were supported by the session of the Lviv Regional Council and Ternopil City Council on January 26th, - informs UNIAN.

"To protect interests of Ukraine and Ukrainians we call to make a historic decision - in any case not to vote for amendments to the Constitution of Ukraine concerning the special status of Donbass, no matter how it is called, its real, cruel and satanic essence is hidden from society - to legitimize occupants, whose boots trample the holy Ukrainian land,"- noted the appeal of the Lviv Regional Council.

Deputies of the Ternopil City Council pointed out in their appeal that the Russian occupants, who had carried out the annexation of Crimea and begun the war in Donbass, wanted to legalize their predatory actions.

"They are trying to make the international community to recognize the pseudo-states, the so-called LPR and DPR, fully controlled by the Kremlin. Legalization of terrorist activities may occur due to the adoption of the relevant amendments to the Constitution by the Verkhovna Rada, which provide for a special procedure for local government in some areas of Luhansk and Donetsk regions,"- said the appeal.

The deputies are convinced that the special status for Donbass is "a kind of legalization of the power of terrorist groups, supported by Russian soldiers killing the AFU, volunteers and civilians."

"Understanding the importance of the adoption of amendments to the Constitution on decentralization, the need for which we understand better locally, we call you for the sake of protecting the interests of Ukraine and Ukrainians not to vote for amendments to the Constitution relating to the special status of Donbass, no matter how it is called," - said the appeal.
