Trial of Sushchenko case began in Russia: the journalist does not admit guilt

Ukrainian journalist Roman Sushchenko, arrested in Russia, said he did not admit guilt in the alleged "espionage" in the premises of in the Moscow City Court, which began preliminary hearings on his case. This was reported by his lawyer Mark Feygin on Twitter.

"A break has been announced in the trial of Roman Sushchenko until 10.30 tomorrow, March 28", - Feygin said.

Earlier, he specified that "Roman Sushchenko has not admitted his guilt".

As reported, Ukrinform's correspondent in France, Roman Sushchenko, was detained in violation of international rules on September 30, 2016 in Moscow, where he arrived on a private trip.

On October 7, he was charged with "espionage." Russia's FSB claimed that Sushchenko is a member of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Defence Ministry. The latter denied this allegation.

On January 24, 2018, Moscow City Court extended the term of Sushchenko's detention in custody for two months - until March 30, 2018.
