EU does not recognize Russian presidential elections in Crimea

The European Union does not recognize the holding of Russian presidential elections on the territory of the annexed Crimea. This was stated by the representative of the EU to the UN João Vale de Almeida, Interfax reports.

"The European Union also won’t recognize the holding of elections by Russia on the Crimean peninsula", - he told at the meeting of the UN Security Council on the situation in the annexed Crimea on Thursday.

According to him, the EU consistently supports Ukrainian sovereignty and its territorial integrity.

He noted that the continued militarization of the annexed Crimea continues to affect the security of the region. "The EU condemns the construction of the bridge in Kerch without Ukraine's consent, which will negatively affect the ports in the Sea of ​​Azov". - João Vale de Almeida added.
