Moscow sounded alarm because of possible blocking of presidential elections in Ukraine's territory

Moscow is concerned about the intentions of Ukrainian nationalists to hinder the March 18 Russian presidential election in Russia's diplomatic institutions in Ukraine. This is said in the statement of the Russian FMFA.

"Moscow is concerned about the intention by a number of Ukrainian nationalist and extremist organizations to hinder the voting on the Russian presidential election in Russia's diplomatic and consular institutions on the territory of Ukraine on March 18, 2018", - the statement said.

According to the Russian MFA, "such threats, grossly violating Ukraine's commitments under the Vienna conventions on diplomatic and consular relations are a direct consequence of the anti-Russian policy pursued by the regime in Kyiv, based on outright nationalism and connivance with extremist groups of various kinds".

The Russian ministry demands ensuring the security of the Russian Embassy in Kyiv, the Russian Consulates General in Kharkiv, Odessa and Lviv, prevention the creation of any obstacles for their full-fledged operation and free visits by Russian citizens.

The Russian MFA has already stated the responsibility of Ukrainian authorities for the consequences of actions.

"The Ukrainian authorities take full responsibility for negative consequences of any illegal actions against Russia's representative offices", - the statement said.

Earlier, the Nationalists stated their intention to block the holding of Russian presidential elections in the territory of Ukraine on March 18, 2018.

As previously reported, the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko stated that Ukraine does not recognize the election of Russian president in the occupied Crimea and calls the EU to impose sanctions against persons involved in this process.

The holding of Russian presidential elections is scheduled for March 18, 2018.
