The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine passed bill "On the High Anti-Corruption Court" in its first reading at a plenary session on Thursday morning, - OstroV’s correspondent reports.

282 MPs voted for the approval of the respective draft law.

The explanatory note to the document states that "the High Anti-Corruption Court is to be determined as a permanent high specialized court in Ukraine's judicial system, which should consider criminal proceedings related to the commission of corruption-related offenses".

Along with this, a number of people's deputies criticized the presidential bill.

"Unfortunately, the basic bill, introduced by Petro Poroshenko, does not exactly ensure the independence of the Anti-Corruption Court, but makes a smoke screen, showing the society that there seems to be a court. But in fact Poroshenko with the help of the High Qualification Commission and the Council of Justice will appoint people loyal to him so that this court does not notice corruption at the highest level, because Poroshenko and his closest associates are the corruptors No. 1", - said MP from Batkivshchyna faction Serhiy Vlasenko.

Earlier, the Verkhovna Rada committee for legal policy and justice recommended that the presidential bill on the High Anti-Corruption Court should be adopted in first reading.
