Almost 45% of the inhabitants of Donbass, who left the occupied territory, returned to places of their former residence. This is stated in the monitoring report of the United Nations Agency for Refugees "Crossing the delimitative line through checkpoints of entry and exit". The report is based on a survey of people crossing the checkpoints.

It is noted that 44.5% of persons were forced to return to the uncontrolled territory of Ukraine.

The main reason for the return (68.8%) is the stabilization of the situation in the zone of occupation. About 33.3% returned because of the high cost of renting housing for internally displaced persons.
