Students and employees of Kyiv National medical University named after Bogomolets announced an indefinite strike because of the resignation of the rector. This is reported by UNIAN with reference to the message of the university.

“The strike is declared in connection with the unprecedented harsh and unlawful interference of the Ministry of health of Ukraine in the independence and self-management of Kyiv National medical University”, – the message said.

It is noted that the educational process in the University is completely stopped from February 26, and all University premises will not be available, except the clinics where patients are treated.

The report notes that the strike was declared by a strike committee, which included representatives of the Student Parliament of the University, the NGO "Student Trust" and the student trade union committee. On the part of the staff of the NMU named after O. Bogomolets there were deans and pro-rectors, trade union committee of the university. The strike participants require the president to immediately intervene in the situation, to "immediately set up a commission to investigate abuse of the leadership of the Ministry of Health" and "to remove the Minister of Health Ulyana Suprun and her deputies from performing their duties for the investigation time".

They also require Ulyana Suprun to cancel the order to remove the rector of the NMU Kateryna Amosova and to immediately ensure the conduct of the integrated licensing examination KROK1.

As previously reported, on February 20, Kateryna Amosova was dismissed from the post of rector of the National Medical University. The Deputy Minister of Health of Ukraine, Oleksandr Linchevsky, explained that the decision was made because the rector "could not ensure the conduct of the exam for dentist students". Amosova said that Linchevsky had pressed on her, and thinks that her removal was "reprisal" for refusing to commit unlawful acts. On February 20, acting rector Mykhailo Zakharash was not allowed to his workplace at the National Medical University.
