Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Vladimir Groisman believes that the issue of the special status of Donbass shouldn’t be put to a constitutional referendum. He said this at the briefing, - reports RBK-Ukraina.

"This mechanism can be used, but the issues that concern the special status of of Donbass shouldn’t be put to a referendum, as there can be no special status for one area or part of it in a unitatian country", - said the head of VR.

At the same time, in his opinion, it is possible to conduct a survey to understand the position of the Ukrainians.

Earlier Groisman said that the VR had no plans to vote on the amendments to the Constitution in terms of decentralization.

According to him, at first it is needed to hold further discussions with the political forces, as well as get the opinion of the Constitutional Court about what is meant by the term "the next regular session".

Earlier it was reported that the Constitutional Court of Ukraine (CCU) received request from 51 people's deputies to clarify the article on the adoption of amendments to the Constitution in the "next session".
