The data of the UN report that 26% of Ukrainians are experiencing sharp hunger contradict the reality. This is stated in the report of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the World Food Program (WFP), which are the authors of the relevant report.

The report notes that a mistake was made when publishing data on food problems in countries affected by armed conflicts.

"It was erroneously stated in the joint FAO and WFP report and the corresponding press release on the hunger in conflict zones, published on January 29, 2018, that 26 percent of the population of Ukraine is currently experiencing sharp hunger. The right information is that 2.6 percent (repeat: 2.6 percent) of the total population in Ukraine needs food aid", - the authors of the report specified.

As previously reported, "sensational" figures about a quarter of starving population of Ukraine were instantly picked up by Russian and separatist media, without specifying that there are 1.2 million people (not 26%) experiencing food problems in absolute numbers, mostly living in occupied by the militants territories of Donbass.
